Why science and art?

Art and science are often viewed as being unrelated and yet have many commonalities. Both use nonlinear discovery processes starting out with an idea or technique that lead to a journey often filled with dead ends and changing goals or surprising results. Also both are based on intense seeing, a way of observing evidence that generates empirical information.

Edward O. Wilson relates to art and science in his book Consilience: The Unity of Knowledge: “…science explains feeling, while art
transmits it”- but even more important, “the common property of science and art is the transmission of information…and…the respective modes of transmission in science and art can be made logically equivalent.”
